What's worse for you, fat or sugar?!


Question: I'd say sugar, only because you don't actually need sugar in your diet. You can get enough calories from simply eating properly.

You need fats to survive and be healthy, but you need to choose the right ones. Choose vegetable oils, especially olive oil & grapeseed oil. Reduce any fats that are solid at room temperature like palm oil, coconut oil and any fat that's derived from animal sources. Avoid wherever possible any hydrogenated oil (like margarine) as this is a source of the dreaded trans-fats that are one of the worst things you can put in your body.

Also fish oils are good, especially those from cold water ocean fish like salmon. These are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for your well being and great for your heart and mind.

There are both good and bad fats and good and bad sugars.

The Omega-3 fats in fish are good for you, but the hydrogenated oils and fats are horrible for you.

Natural sugars in fruit are OK for you, but the refined sugars used to make cookies, bars, cakes, are not good for you.
