Does being overweight have anything to do with low self-esteem?!

Question: I hear people like Oprah, lol, that being overweight has more to do with emotional issues rather than portion issues. I've found this true of myself, does anyone relate to this?

if i can reverse that, when i am in shape and toned, i feel invincible, full of confidence. When i am not i feel like crap

yea i think so in a way for some people

i think for the majority of people it goes hand in hand.

I don't relate personally, but have some friends that do. The two problems are definitely related. And they "feed" each other- you feel bad since you're overweight, so you eat more to feel better.

dr himan has a book called ultra metabolism.he talks about mental stress causing your body to store fat, part of your fight or flight response on your body. get the book , i lost about 20lbs quick, and was never hungry.

Well, I've noticed that stress makes you skinny. However, your calorie intake vs the amount of calories that your body burns is the real key. It's all about supply and demand. Now, if you have low self-esteem, you may tend to eat your sorrow away, and not stop when you've had enough, therefore, supplying your body with to much energy, and forcing your body to store it away for latter.
