Powerbars...Unhealthy???!

Question: I like to think I eat fairly healthy. I eat a nice breakfast and then spread out small meals throughout the work day. During one of my small meals I typcially eat a Powerbar. Then consume a can of fruit about an hour or two later. My fiance tells me the Powerbar is a bad choice but I seem to disagree...what are your thoughts?

Powerbars have an abundance of complex carbs, fiber, and a reasonable amount of protein. And they are low in saturated fat. As a bodybuilder, I use them a lot before a workout. They make an excellent supplement when you are "on the go" or just need a quick energy boost.

Not unhealthy...just gross.

They are a fine choice in your diet as you have it structured now, unless you are not very active.

If you are not that active, or do not exercise, then the total calories and sugar may be more than is needed.

They can be a good part of a balanced diet and are certainly a better snack than many other alternatives.

It depends on your fitness level - if you are using all of the complex carbs and sugars in the bar - then they are a good choice . If not, they are not being put to 'use' in your body and therefore not a good choice.

Natural foods are best for healthy choices.

I have no idea why your fiance would be against the powerbar unless you say what she suggests as an alternative; I'd agree with her if she said that salmon and salad were better than a powerbar for instance. On the other hand, powerbars are more nourishing and more satisfying than fruits (which I think are overrated).
