How do I get into running?!

Question: I'm determined to lose weight. I've been walking consistently for the past month or so, however I'm getting frustrated with the lack of results. I've changed my diet, but I'd like to transition into a more calorie-burning intensive workout like running. I like the idea of running - it seems fun. But whenever I start running I get tired immediately, and worse - bored. Any advice?

I used to have the same problem as you did. So here's the advice I can give you. Start working out with light weights. Working out with exercise of ten repetitions makes you feel better, stronger and healthier. It also gives you energy and boost your metabolism that burns fat. And the best thing is that you don't have to work out for an hour. Do it 3 to 4 times a week, exercises that strengthen your legs or even get the heart pumping. and 15 t0 30 minutes a day. After a few weeks, you'll have more energy to run.

As for running, do it twice a week. Run in a place you enjoy the scenery. If you only do ten minutes at first, that's okay. The week after, try to do 15 minutes if you can. Just remember when the body sometimes screams to stop at ten minutes, say no to yourself and try to do 15 minutes. Two to three weeks after, try to do 20 minutes of jogging.

Remember, exercising to lose weight can be one of the goals. But try to see other advantages too such as feeling better, more energetic or even challenging yourself to go beyond what you though were able to accomplish.

When you start enjoying exercise in a few weeks and feel better, you'll gain more satisfaction and self esteem, while losing the weight.

Be happy and just do it!

Good luck! I know you can do it.

Buy a pair of good training shoes and start running with a friend. Run in a park where the scenery is interesting and the people attractive. Run with friends. Don't stop and don't give up. Even if exhausted, keep race-walking. Run slow enough that you can talk normally.

Get fitted for shoes from a running store. Just keep running at first until you can run a few miles. Once you are to that point there are countless training books. Just don't quit. It gets easier as you go.

Running is boring. Not really many ways around it. Music helps. Trail running is fun if you've got parks around. As for the tired part it will take time to slowly build up your endurance.

A companion runner would help to break the boredom and to encourage each other. Gear your HEALTHY Eating toward being a little hungry most of the time. That means you're burning your own fat when you work out. Sizzle!, Sizzle!

You can burn just as many calories if not more by biking, it is a highly under rated cardio routine. Also try the stair master, you will see results very fast with either. But if you choose to go with running the best way to get into it would be to start off slow, you have to build up quite an endurance to run for a long period of time, and make sure you pace yourself and dont start off too fast, this is key. Hope this helps!
