Smith machine?!

Question: ok so i hear a lot that smith machine is bad for bench press because of ur stabilizers and range of movement, but couldnt this be said about barbell bench which everyone swears by. dumbbell offers a much greater range and more need for stability. in my opinion u can pretty much replace bb bench with smith(allowing more weight and to failure without spotter). as long as u do some db bench press too. i think that this will make sure that u dont neglect ur stabilizers. what do u think?

The only reason to use the smith machine over bench, is so you can incline or decline. Or if you are at a level where concentric and ex-centric training is being applied. We are all measured on our bench press. and is does inhibit the range of movement. Its good for triceps though.

Smith Machines are great for Bench pressing, they allow you to perform the press much smoother, theres no danger of tilting to one side which can be ugly, ive seen it many times
