20 pounds in 6 weeks?!

Question: I eat about 1000 to 1,200 calories a day and I also go to the gym and burn about 1000 calories in a day. If I do this for 6 weeks, 6 out of 7 days, How many pounds could I lose? I eat lots of fruits and veggies and eat a lot of egg whites, whole wheat breads, and low fat ground turkey and tuna. I also drink lots of water and green tea =)

I am about 128lbs and am 5'3".

Oh and I am not staving myself! I AWLAYS eat something when I am hungry =] and I am starting to lose the pounds and its showing but I just want to know if it'll all come off in 6 weeks?

It's possible as long as you keep doing it in a healthy way and you don't have any diseases (like diabetes or something). Interval training is key, such as cardio training going faster for a few min. then slower for a few min., or hard resistance-easier resistance, or inclining the treadmill, then going at 0% inline. Change up your workout so your body doesn't get used to the same routine. Curcuit training is great for shocking your muscles (and change it often, be creative and make it fun!) and find out what your target heart rate is, then find out what your optimum heart rate is for fat loss and keep your heart rate there during your workout. Target heart rate is 220-your age. Keeping your optimum heart rate going is key, if it drops below, start doing some cardio quick to get your heart rate back up there again.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense! For example, to find my target heart rate IF I was 25 yrs. old:
220-25=195 beats/min. and IF my optimum rate for fat loss is 60% of my target rate:
60% of 195=117 beats/min.
So I want to keep my heart rate around 117 beats/min. during my workout. You can buy a wrist monitor for your heart rate pretty cheap almost anywhere.
Good luck! By the way...I am a trainer so I am not just talking smack! lol! ;-)

you'll lose around 12lbs

It's possible to lose that much, but in 6 weeks it's more likely that you'd lose about 10-12 pounds. Normally, losing 20 pounds should take more like ten weeks, maybe more.

It's not healthy to lose more than about 2 pounds a week. If you find that you are losing faster than that in the first couple of weeks, then you need to either add more calories or decrease your exercise. If your body believes you are starving, your metabolism will slow down and you will have more trouble losing the rest of the weight. Slow and steady wins the race!

if you train like a wrestler or boxer you can take that off in a few weeks. itll take a little starvation but it does work.
