What is the ideal weight for a person of 5'5? I want to go down to 130?!

Question: I want to go down to 130 but everyone yells at me and says thats too small and that I would be sick. But so what is the perfect weight?

It depends on your bone structure, your age, how much muscle you have versus your body fat percentage.

Me for instance, I am 35 and I would be a very healthy weight at 130. If you are tiny and have a small bone structure then in the low 20's would be good.

However, remember it's only a number and you should measure it more based on how your clothes fit and what your body fat percentage is falling into. You could be very very fit and have lean muscle and 130 could be perfect.

Look up body mass index on the www. It will tell you your proper weight for 5'5".

I'm 118 and 5'5" - At 130 I would feel fat.

I do not think that would be to small. Here is a website to check out what your BMI is and your ideal weight range:
http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/
I am 5' 7" and it is still within my ideal weight range.

112 up to 149 pounds is considered normal for your height. The perfect weight depends on how your bone frame is. If you have a small bone frame you should weigh less than you should with a heavier frame. The shape of your body and your gender also help determine how much weight you can carry. You can't determine an appropriate weight on height alone. Eating healthy foods and exercise are what you should focus on. If you have to starve yourself to stay at 130, then probably it's too low for you. On the other hand if you can easily maintain that weight with normal eating, then it should be fine.

I don't think that's bad... 5'5'' and 130lbs sounds good. I'm a little shorter than you and I'm 105lbs so it really just depends on you and your comfort level. Don't lose too much weight because you don't want to look sick but also be in a healthy weight range... 130lbs is a great weight to be at (I sometimes wish I could gain weight!)... You'll look perfect... not too skinny and defintely not fat. Good luck!
