Why do Girls think Skinny means healthy, and for that matter why do they think i!
Question: I'm not saying all girls think this but alot of people I have seen think this. It annoys the hell outta me because a girl who is in shape is way hotter then some skinny not implieing that all skinny people male or female ar hors... But I really want to know, its annoying seeing people who think the only way to be hot is to loose weight and only that.

It's the way the media is. Girl models keep on getting skinnier, celebrities keep getting skinnier, and girls think that it's the "thing" to do. The media's a ******.
I'm skinny. 16 years old, 5'3, 95 pounds on average. I HATE it. I've always been skinny, and I eat so much. People think I have an eating disorder. It bugs me. Yet for example the other day, a girl I know said if she had a body like mine, she'd be showing it off. I wish girls would realize it really isn't that great to be known as the girl who's uber skinny. It sucks.
Sorry, ranted a little bit, but I know there's a lot of girls (and guys!) out there like me, who can't help being skinny and want to gain some weight but can't really manage to. I've ran into a lot of them lately.
Due to society sterotyping people. Due to diet products, commerical advertisements, videos, professional singers, and models, there are all expressions on small petite bodies are in and all they others care to see.

I think that the main thing is that is what society makes girls think. Like if you look at advertisements with models, they're always skinny.
For me and a lot of my friends though when we say we want to look 'skinny' what we really mean is that we want to lose fat and be more toned. If that makes any sense. Girls just don't like being fat, and I guess being skinny is less work then being in shape.
i agree with kajun ladee. its because society has made being skinny something that all girls should be.. personally, i think a girl should have some meat on her bones. look at mariah carey, shes gorgeous, and not only her face but she has a body with curves. what kind of a girl wants a flat chest? girls who are normal weight and overweight are more happy than girls who starve themselves or strive to be thin. i've actually heard that guys perfer girls who are normal weight or a little over weight, then stick skinny girls.
I dont think being skinny is good at all, and because my metabolism is f------ up, Ive heard this question to my face a lot of times. In addition to really stupid fads that just somehow appeal to some girls, the media (of course!) blows everything out of proportion thanks to advertisements, celebs, movies, tv shows, etc but its true that some girls are obsessed with being really thin just because they have a distorted image of themselves as being really fat. This leads to an eating disorder most of the time, not because they think its hot, but because of their own self image.--either that or they are really weird ;)

The skinny thing stems from society. Almost every magazine made is filled with skinny atlethic type women. And the most popular men magazines are Playboy and Hustler. Both filled with the same type of women. Magazines geared toward larger women have titles that doesn't let them forget it. So until there is some major shift in society this trend will continue. But take heart if your type of woman is the larger type she will only more than likely have heart trouble or be diabetic and not normally carry the AIDS virus.
