Sounds like you've been busy and with all the stress, it's easy to grab something and chow down and not think about all the calories you are taking in.

Go to www.sparkpeople.com, which is free, where you can log in your food and water every day and any exercise you do. There are all kinds of message boards where you can intereact with others of like interest and there are alot of good articles to read and continue to educate yourself. This is a good way to learn new, life time behaviors, which you can pass on to your family so they don't fall prey to the weight issues later, and all the exercises have clips of how to do the exercises properly.

The problem with wraps is they are only temporary and pretty much a waste of money. We need to learn to quit looking for quick fixes and realize eating properly is a lifestyle and the healthy way to lose weight is to do it slowly with proper nutrition and exercise (when one is able).

Also, a not so quick note but very important. Stay away from diet foods which actually cause you to gain weight plus, the sweeteners are toxic to our system.

Google and read up on aspertame and saccharin and what problems so many have experienced because of using them through the years. I just recently discovered aspertame and saccharin have been causing me to have stomach problems, headaches, fatigue and other problems.

Read some of the stories at www.sweetpoison.com ~ even if you don't notice problems now, you will later. Teach your children to read labels and avoid them as much as possible. I have wondered for years why more and more people are suffering from MS and other problems and compared to the 70s, it's astronomical to see so many changes in weight and health problems in just 30 odd years... and after seeing my problems and connecting the dots on my own, I have discovered why. I am presently detoxing and am already seeing a huge difference in how I feel each day, just by giving up aspertame, saccharin and products with sucrose.

Another thing you want to watch for is sucrose / sucralose. So many companies use them today to sweeten juices and other foods but they are also dangerous and cause us to gain weight. It is so bad that Canada does not allow their companies to use it in their foods.

A couple of years ago I read where one guy discovered the catsup they have in Canada tastes like what some of us grew up with years ago ~ their's is made with sugar like ours used to be. He discovered the reason ours tastes different is because the good ol' US of A allows our companies to use sucrose (it's cheaper), despite the health problems it creates for so many.

BTW, one problem with aspertame. When very hot, it turns into formaldehyde ~ that is embalming fluid. You can read one woman's story on Sweet Poison about she was embalming herself with diet pop because it got hot in her car before she took it to work.

Wishing you well on your journey to a new, healthy you (and family :)

you are very welcome :) Report It

  • Do it for your health and YOUR KIDS, not for looks.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror and let it all hang out. If that isn't enough to make you want to lose weight and keep at it then there's one more thing I want you to try.

Take a look at your kids and say you're going to lose the weight for them.

If neither works for you, then you don't really want to lose the weight.

Factors like self-confidence, stress, body weight, can make a difference between taking up exercise and staying on the couch.

Researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA found that among 274 middle-aged adults at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, those who were thinner, more confident in their ability to be active, or had lower stress and depression levels were more likely to exercise.

Previous studies have showed that exercise and other lifestyle changes could cut the risk of type 2 diabetes by more than 50 percent in adults at high risk of the disease. In the current study, the researchers re-analyzed the data to see what factors made certain people more likely to boost their activity levels. All the participants included in the analysis had completed questionnaires on self-confidence, stress levels, anxiety and depression at the start of the study.

It was found that, men were more likely to be active at the outset, as well as at the end of the study, two years later than women. In addition, people with more confidence in their ability to exercise were more active throughout the study, as compared to those with relatively lower weights. Men and women with higher stress, anxiety or depression levels were less likely to exercise.

The results suggest that programs that focus on improving motivational readiness for physical activity and self-efficacy are critically important. As an example, women-only fitness programs might encourage women who lack self-confidence to give exercise a go. In addition, health professionals should help adults who are at risk of diabetes to address any depression, anxiety or other psychological problems that may be keeping them sedentary.

Men and women who are particularly overweight, might first need counselling on what types of exercise they can handle, or may need help shedding weight before they become active.

Here's what has and hasn't worked for me. Last year I bought Bob Greene's book and lost 10 lbs. But, I was bored and felt too constrained. I jumped back to Weight Watchers with a group of friends & family, I lost another 15 lbs, but for me it only works if I attend every week and stay for the duration of each meeting. My group was notorious for skipping 2 or 4 weeks at a time and for me I needed to really check in every week and feel a sense of accountability. So as my inspiration was dipping I dragged out old photos! I took out the worst ones, the ones with the double chins and unflattering bulges...and then I found the great shots, with zero bulge and only 1 chin!! I hung them side by side on my mirror and every morning as I apply makeup and style my hair I look at the photos and decide which girl I want to be!! I stated NutriSystem 6 weeks ago, and I love it! The food is great, really! I'm doing well, I'm down another 15 (I did gain a bit back between WW and NS), but I'm down a total of 29.7 lbs and I'm going strong. This is what has worked for me. Good luck to you!!

I found this excellent, helpful site called:

    NutriNerd.com

It's full of useful, great tips & info on how to lose weight the healthy, safe way & teaches you how to commit to a healthy lifestyle.

I hope it helps you like it helped me!

I wish you the best in health & weight loss success! =)
