No, they're not that good for you, but not because they're high in calories. There's simply way too much protein, at least more than there are carbohydrates, and I heard something about your liver not being able to deal with that much protein alone, there needs to be carbohydrates along with it.

Look, protein bars are meant for people who want to gain weight, so it's good that it's high in calories, and as long as it's good fat, not saturated or trans fat, the fat is not a problem either. And nor is the sugar. Artificial sweeteners are way worse than sugar. Just cause they don't have any calories in them doesn't mean they're healthy.

Protein bars also have a lot of vitamins and stuff in them, unlike a tin of tuna. Although I'm not sure they're all absorbed successfully by your body.

no they are not, you should go to the raw diet sites and try them they are really heathy.

I wouldn't say they are bad for you, but NOT! You are so smart to be reading the nutrition facts! You can easily compare many of them to a candy bar. I would say fig newtons or nutrigrain bars are a better choice, or cereal bars with some fiber. If you are using them for a meal replacement, look for some that are intended for this purpose, like slimfast. If you are just looking for a healthy snack, I'd go with the cereal bars :)

They're not so great actually. Like you said, they're high in calories and fat and many brands are pretty high in sugar too. I never understand why people don't just eat a tin of tuna or something. That has protein, is low fat AND gives you other vital nutrients like Omega 3 and vitamins.
