I find yoga to be more painful than relaxing. Does it get better with time?!

Question: They say it's supposed to help you relax, but I find it to be extremely uncomfortable. I can't wait until it's over. I have no problem doing strength training or cardio, but yoga/flexibility is a huge pain (literally).

I've been doing the Yoga workout in the P90X series, but I always stop it after about 30 minutes. I can't keep endure it for the full 90 minutes.

Does Yoga get easier over time? Or are certain people just not cut out for it?

Are you taking a beginner yoga? This would be really helpful. I'm wondering if you are over your head with something too advanced?
I teach yoga, and I have a beginner yoga class for people who have never done it, and it is easy enough that anyone can do. I'm not familiar with the series you are doing.

Yes Yoga is supposed to be stress free! One should be focused on the breathing and the movements, and yes it gets easier over time the more it is performed, just like everything else. I teach other classes too, step, toning, cardo, bosu, and I really do enjoy the yoga too, but I teach it at a level that is comfortable. There is a more advanced class in the evenings.

I'd suggest to find a beginner dvd, but at the same time yes there are people who just don't want to do it, and that's ok too! Before you totally give up on it, I'd suggest getting a beginner one and enjoy it.Try collagevideo.com. This is a professional site for dvd's and you can view them before buying, you will really like this site!

yoga makes your body flexible and soothes you after a few days

be patient
itll pay off later like preventing back problems

It sounds like you're just really unflexible. Maybe you should start small and work your way up to all the more complicated poses.
