My bro keep saying that when I'm older I'm going to be fat?!

Question: because my dads sister is fat and I look just like her.
Is this true, has genetics decided my future?

He thinks I'm stupid for denying it...but I really don't think I will be.

Right now I eat as much as I want, but don't gain that much just like my dads sis, but in the future will it catch up on me and I'm going to be as fat as my dads sis?

Brothers can be so cruel. First off, just because your aunt is overweight does not mean you will be. What is your mother like? You'd be more inclined to get your genetics from her than your aunt. That being said, to eat as much as you want right now and not put on too much weight is not always a good thing. As you get older your metabolism is going to start slowing down (by age 30) and you will see the weight creep up if you continue to eat everything in sight. Try to maintain a normal eating pattern that consists of carbs (but not junk carbs), proteins and fiber. Also, make sure you are getting at least 30 minutes of cardio per day for 5 days to ensure your metabolism stays active.

it just dependz on ur metabolism.. u can look like ur aunt but end up getting the metabolism like sum1 elsez.. it all just dependz on genetics!!

He is trying to get one up on you. Nothing is certain. You control yourself.

Yes if you keep eating all you want, you will gain weight significantly when you're about 24-25 because that's when you're metabolism slows down. Genetics does play a role in this but you have control over it. All you need to do is make sure you eat healthy and EXERCISE. Exercising not only helps keeping you in shape, it does many wonders to your health.

When people get older, their metabolisms slow down and it becomes easier to get fatter. So yes you will get fatter later, just like me even though im skinny.

It's a good idea to eat healthy regardless of what age you are.

if you keep on eating and eating obviously you'll get big

First off all, your brother is just being rude.

Secondly, If you keep eating all you want, you will gain lots of weight significantly in 2 years time, and when you're about 24-25 to about the age 30, you're metabolism also slows down which causes it easier to get even fatter. Genetics does play a role in this but you have control over it. All you need to do is make sure you eat healthy and exercise. Exercising not only helps keeping you in shape, it does many wonders to your health. Try to maintain a normal eating pattern that consists of carbs, (NOT the junk carbs), proteins and fiber. for right now you have a fast metabolism and maybe when you get older it'll change...about what your brother is telling you take as a heads up "you supposedly know that in the future you'll gain alot of weight" so take care of yourself once you start noticing a sudden weight gain "cuz your gonna be fat" instead of letting your body get that way prevent it. then you can thank your brother for the heads up
