BURNED 450 calories...

It could be correct. It does sound accurate. Did you enter in your weight and age when you stepped on the machine?

Google, "Calories burnt on stepper", and you should find something that'll take your weight and height to tell you how many calories you burnt.

Additional:
Here you go, I found this site for you:
http://www.fatburn.com/free_tool_activit...
Just enter in your weight, and go toward the "STEP" area (it's in alphabetical order)...it depends on how intense your workout was, too...so keep that in mind; because according to the calculator, you could've bunred about 900 calories in those 50 minutes!!!!

Additional II:
That would depend on what the rest of your diet is like...For your height, you should be consuming a minimum of 1600 calories (and make sure the majority of that comes from protein)...Eating protein keeps you fuller longer (that's why I drink a protein shake in the morning--sometimes I have to go about 6 hours without eating when I'm really, really busy in school)...Just stay away from junk/fast food, and you'll lose weight in no time. Just remember to give yourself a 'treat/cheat/no exercise" day once in a while, too!
