How can I get rid of my "tubby" tummy and get nice flat abs?!


Question: I have always been skinny and even used to be teased as a kid! In my teens and 20's, I had an awesome body that I loved. Now I'm 34 and have a belly! I haven't had any kids so I attribute it to lack of exercise and a bad diet. I'm still fairly thin but with my waist being 32", I wear a size 12! I should wear a size 4 or 6. None of my jeans fit me. I am so depressed about it. I can't get the motivation to do anything! It's to cold to walk. It's a hassle to go to the gym. I can't stop eating sweets. I have an excuse for everything! I also started taking Prozac, can that cause weight gain as well? What are some simple things that I can start out doing? I'd like to be able to wear a bikini without hanging out of it by June! PLEASE HELP! I'm 5'8 and 137 lbs. which is a decent weight for my height but like I said, ALL my weight is in my gut!

you can gain weight with Prozac.. So do be careful about that.. I know because I took Prozac and gained close to 20 lbs.. But the only way to loose the gut is to get movin!! You have to do cardio atleast 30 minutes daily.. so get a gym membership and it's tough but GO everyday and once your into it, you'll love to go, and it will only get easier I promise! also do light weight training to tighten up your body.. muscle burns way more calories than fat does so you'll start to loose weight a lot faster once you start to work out.. also working out with help your mental health and you'll feel great.. drink a ton of water, try to avoid soda and eat more veggies and fruit and lean protein like chicken (skinless) and tuna.. just be more active in your daily life if gym is not an option.. take stairs, park your car further away from building,.. I got into bike riding because it is fun and also you get to be outdoors and you get a great workout without having to go to a gym.. but find whatever works for you.. Im also tryin to loose my belly fat because I swore this summer I would go to the beach in a bikini and turn heads lol.. so good luck!!

Well about the flat abs, no woman can have perfectly flat abs. we'll always have that little bump from our belly button down. the reason thats there is to protect our "womanly parts" if you get what im saying. no woman can have natural abs like that.
What you can do:
Bicycle crunches - lay on your back. bring your right elbow and your right knee up so they meet just above you. you should be using a twisting motion repeat with yo ur left knee. The great thing about bicycle crunches is that they work your abs as well as your obliques. you can also do straight crunches or sit ups (Even better!)

Planks: this burrrrrrns man! i love it! my favorite exercise by far! so you go onto your elbows and toes, making sure your elbows are at a 90 degree angle and your head is looking straight forward. you MUST make sure your body is in a completely straight line, or else this wont work. I usually hold it for five minutes, but you should probably start with 1 minute... unless you've been doing these before.

Get rid of all the sweets in your house. ALL OF THEM! anything unhealthy - cereals, snacks, dressings, sauces - ANYTHING! when you go out, bring a healthy snack (theres toes little crispy things that are drizzled in chocolate... sooooo good! and only 90 calories!) just in case you have the urge to snack. If you are feeling hungry, drink a glass of water first. Your body often mistakes thirst for hunger. another tip - Eat breakfast like a Queen (because you will burn it all off through the day) have lunch like a commoner (lunch isin't too important, but you still need to refuel!) and have dinner like a pauper. and no eating after 6 PM or its too hard for your body to digest!

Hmm...well, 90% of losing weight and getting fit is mental. You need to be motivated and not lose sight of your goals or get discouraged or quit. There are plenty of ways to lose weight at home in your living room such as crunches, jumping jacks, push-ups, jump rope, etc. Quit eating junk. You just have to muster up the self control to change your body, nobody can do it for you, just suck it up and don't quit until you're a size 4 again.
