How long is it healthy to fast?!

Question: I'm 15 years old and I weigh about 150 pounds. I'm about 5'7".
If I do a water fast once in a while on easy days or when I can't make it to the gym, is that healthy?
How long should I do that for and is there a healthier option for a temporary change in diet?

If I remember correctly, fasting isn't supposed to be done more than 3 days, but I don't know if there's a frequency.

Honestly, fasting's really just to clean out your system usually.

fasts are dumb, they slow yr metabolism, so u dont lose wieght. unless u r constantly fasting, which i dont recomend.

dont fast. just eat like 150-200 calories every 4 hours or so

If you are only consuming water. That will make your body shut down.

Do you remember the food pyramid? Use that as a guideline. You will appreciate that.

about 2 1/2 days after that u should eat something or stuff then u can do that!

my cousin does this sometimes (shes a model) she just drinks nothing but water for 2 days. that shrinks your stomach so when you do start eating you will get full quicker. then for the rest of the time that her "fast" lasts she only eats like 200 to 400 calories a day and she runs and does crunches ( i dont know how long she runs or how many crunches she does either) but when shes done with it she starts normally again but she starts out doing that slowly because if you just fast and then start eating normally you will gain all of the weight or more back. hope i helped and good luck!!

The way to gain weight is to not eat. Sounds crazy, but when you starve yourself, your metabolism slows down or halts. As a 15 year old, you are still growing and developing, do not diet by not eating. Exercise is great, and the way to lose weight is to consume less energy than you burn, that way you still get the nutrients and vitamins needed for body function and keep your metabolism up. So, skip a meal, it will not kill you, but it will also not cause weight loss that will stay off.
