I'm afraid to lose weight?!

Question: ok so here are the details. I am 25 about 5'6 and 258 pounds. i know i am really overweight. i am scared that if i lose weight i will have sagging skin. I have already lost about 13 pounds using resitance trainging and healthy food, but of course that's not enough to tell if my skin will sag. has anyone else lost a big amount of weight that can share their experience? is there anyone else in los Angeles in a simaler place that wants to buddy up and do this together?

Losing weight slowly and healthily is key. Sagging skin is a result of sudden weight loss....if you take your time and do it right...you have nothing to worry about.

And quite frankly...staying at the weight your at is a heck of alot more scary than saggy skin...I'm the same height as you and 233 and I'm afraid of diabetes and a heart attack...

I have started going to the gym on my lunch hour at work everyday...because I'd rather have saggy skin and be alive...than be over weight anymore and have a heart attack at 35.

Fitness is nothing to be afraid of...You can do it...and you'll be just fine as long as you don't do anything rash and you take it slow.

Good Luck!

Sagging skin is a result from losing weight too quickly. If you lose it the right way, about 1 to 2 pounds a week you should be fine. Of course there are no guarantees. In my 2nd pregnancy i gained 50 pounds and when my son was born My belly returned so quickly to its pre pregnancy size that I was left with inches and inches of sagging skin. you'd never know it by looking at me bcs i'm 5'5 and 125 pounds, but it's there. Just do your best to lose weight the proper way and don't do some fad diet. make a lifestyle change.

the link didn't work.
however, don't be afraid to lose weight.
what you're doing for yourself is great.
just remember to incorporate tightening and toning exercises into your routine and you won't have to worry about your skin sagging. if you're really worried, consult your doctor and get some info on things you can do to prevent from sagging.
hope this helped!

I can't say that I have seen anybody with sagging skin from losing weight. You should be fine. Good Luck!

I don't think you would have to worry about sagging skin cause you're very young and if you keep up the weight bearing excercises and healthy food, you're skin will look normal after you lose the weight. I think that people who are way over the 300lb mark would have to worry about sagging skin cause my son use to weigh 250lbs and he lost about 60lbs, he didn't do any exercises, he just got skinny looking. I also know someone who use to weigh over 300lbs and he has sagging skin, of course, he didn't exercise either. I think weight bearing exercises will really make a difference, so don't be afraid to lose weight!

I don't believe your skin will sag because you are young. just make sure you exercise. my mom was 50 when she lose 150 pound and she had be that weight for at least 15 years. exercise and drink plenty of water. And last year I lost 80 pound now I weight 120 and no sagging. Water is the thing. It helps you skin. Good Luck
