Question: Is it good to drink fruit juice immediatly after a work out? I know the importants of protein, but simple carbs? I heard that it was because of the glucose levels needing to be restored. What is an ideal carb to eat after a workout? And what amount?

Normal nutrition rules don't apply at the end of a workout. You want to get glucose, protein, simple carbs, etc into your body as quickly as possible. After my workouts, I drink a shake consisting of whey protein, creatine, and sugar. It's important to consume it as quickly as possible after the workout, so I have it all mixed up beforehand and then I just add water.

The reason you want simple carbs after a workout is because they are absorbed much more quickly. After a workout, your body is drained. So you want to recharge it ASAP.

A little while later, I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because of the extra protein in the peanut butter, the sugar in the jelly, and the simple carbs in the white bread.

I also have a soy protein shake before going to bed that night. Soy protein is absorbed much less rapidly so your body is more likely to use it throughout the night (when your muscles are being repaired).

fruit juice is great after a workout because it rehydrates you and has a similar concentration of the salts (the electrolytes potassium and sodium) as your blood (known as isotonic, like some of those sports drinks). tomato and orange juice are especially good.
your body can produce the glucose you need after a work out by breaking down stores in your muscles and liver. so unless you are a diabetic you don't need the glucose - more the water and salts - but the glucose is good to give you a boost. any carb is good after a workout, but complex ones are best, or a bit of simple carbs with a larger amount of complexones to give you a boost. oatmeal, pasta, rice etc are all ideal.
