Running/cycling/swimming will get rid of fat and helps toning. Apart from that crunches should fix you in no time. Though this sounds different from what your friends in the gym may tell you; it just works.

There are tons of variations of crunches you can do to get a defined six pack fast, also running is good whether down the road or on a machine, and a good cartio workout will do the job as well.
