I used to have an eating disorder?!

Question: I used to have one. I havent for about 2 years. I have starved myself since but only for a couple of days at a time. And i have also purged but only about 10 times in 2 years. I still think about my weight and i count calories everyday. I sometimes wonder whether i still have one. Sometimes, I dont eat much because i decide i have to lose 10lbs because my goal weight is 94lbs. But then other days i decide i want to be healthy and i think clearly. I am confused about whether i still have one or not. Or maybe i have just forgotten how to eat normally. Also, is it ok to go on ED websites? I dont mean Pro-Ana ones, i mean the ones that warn you by showing how people have died from it etc.

I think an eating disorder once you have one will always be in the back ground somewhere. You have done so well to mostly over come it. i know how hard that is.

From what you are saying I think you are right in your sane moments and you are at a nice healthy weight for you. You know what to do and when you do it you are getting it so right so try not to slip. But I do think you need support. Go to your doctor and ask him to recommend someone who can support you.

I was over 23 stone and my doctor helped and now I am about normal size thanks to their support.

Good Luck..

I don't know your height or anything, but 94 lbs doesn't sound that healthy. I think that visiting those websites would be okay, as long as you don't over do it. I think that you should try not to think about it, even though it is hard, and don't be in denial. If you know something is up, get help.

If you're still worrying about your weight and have a perfect set target weight that you think you ought to reach, whether it's good for your body or not, then yeah, you're probably still suffering from a disorder.

I don't know whether visiting websites is good or bad. What you really need most of all is to be able to relax and not worry so much (stress is really, really bad for you. stress gives you ulcers. stress ups your blood pressure. stress kills people.) but that's awfully hard to do. It's one thing to say "Chill out! Don't worry about your weight!" and it's another thing to do it, especially when you're bombarded by crazy businesses trying to sell diet products all the time.

If you are recovering from an eating disorder you are in recovery. You are never truley cured, and just like an alcoholic takes things one day at a time so should you. Your goal shouldn't be that you weigh 94lbs, it should be that you won't focus on losing weight but focus on living your life. Starving yourself 10 times in 2 years tells me that you still are active with your disorder and until you get in the mind frame that you don't want this to take over your mind, body and actions you will never get better. Like I said before focus on today, break each day down into segments focus on having a healthy breakfast, a couple snacks and lunch and dinner. Get used to eating at set times and NEVER skip a meal or starve yourself. Set a goal to follow this routine for short term goal and then a longer term goal, and eventually focus on never straying from your meal plan for life. And be vocal to people around you when you are struggling, they will lend support in the best way they can. Start as soon as possible. Also, I reccommend that you immediately contact your doctor and tell them what you have been doing over the past few years and ask them for help also.
