Is the Canadian or US food guide really healthiest?!

Question: I looked at the Canadian one today and was surprised that they recommend 6-7 servings of grain and only 2 of meat or alternatives. I thought we were supposed to cut back on carbs?

So many people say canned fruit is no good, yogurt has too much sugar and sea salt is the way to go. I don't like plain yogurt I find canned fruit to be the most convienent when busy and I dont' have a health food store here for sea salt. All these things that health people say make me think 'Why try...' they make it so complicated. They make it sound like the foods I thought were healthy, like fruit cups and yogurt are just as bad as chocolate.

So is the food guide really healthy?

Also, what is popcorn... a grain?

both are severely flawed and neither one addresses the importance of eating for the level of daily activity and body composition. an athlete requires substantially more calories and nutrients daily than the sedentary individual just as one person at 20% body fat and another at 35% require different amounts of macronutrients (proteins, carbs and fats).

yes, corn is a grain but most think it's a veggie. corn is basically useless except for it's high in vitamin K. corn is also used to manufacture dextrose or corn sugar which is a 100 on the glycemic index (GI).

regardless of what the manufactures of foods may claim the only truly healthy foods are those that are naturally occurring and consumed in the natural state. processed foods are loaded with various chemicals that have nothing but negative effects on the endocrine system which governs the human body. humans are designed to consume eggs, fish, meat, poultry, beans, rice, veggies and fruits. not pre-packaged foods made by man that have been manipulated to improve taste and shelf life. the less processed foods in your diet the healthier and leaner you will be.

remember you are what you eat

yes the food guide is healthy but with restrictions like if ur goin to eat pasta use tomato sauce made with whole tomato instead of a butter sauce or alfredo sauce, bc thats like pure fat and oil. or if ur gonna eat fruit eat an apple, that is fresh, bc that canned stuff is fulll of sugar n isnt healthy. popcorn is a grain get unsalted unbutterd kernal corn is the best tasting type for me b/c it still tastes salty w/o the salt and tastes a lil sweet at the same time.
