Can squats negatively affect vertical jump?!


Question: Can heavy squatting lower your vertical jump?
I play basketball and football and over the summer and during football season i had to do a lot of heavy squatting for football workouts. Before the summer my vertical was around 30" and now its around 25"

if you stopped doing Vertical jumps during the time you were heavy squatting then yes. member you are laying down more muscle fibers so they do need to be shown the movement of a Vertical Jump.

if you break your leg doing them- they will!

You may be breaking down the cartilidge in your knees and ankles, which reduces how far up you can jump.

No, squats will not cause you to lose jumping height, but your jump may have gone down from not jumping wile you where training for football or you could have gained weight that would make it harder to jump.

IF you arent stretching after working out your muscles will tighten up over time and that would cause you too lose the height in your jump
