It should be muscle has more mass than fat. If two people are the same weight and one is muscular and the other is fat, the fat one will appear to be bigger.

muscle is denser meaning 1lb of it is smaller in size then fat.

For the same amount of mass the muslce is more dense than fat, meaning it weighs more.

Kind of like a tin paper weight versus a lead paper weight.

muscle is more dense, so size wise it does.

well yes 1 lb is equal to 1 lb but if you were to put 1 lb of muscle and 1 lb of fat on a scale, you would need to put less muscle on the scale then fat to get to that 1 lb because muscle weighs more

Hold a ten lb roast and compare it to ten lbs of fat . You will be amazed!

yeah it is, its just the density of it

Yes a pound is a pound. but it takes less muscle to make up the pound than it does fat. lol :)

Muscle is *denser* than fat. If you've got the same amount of stuff - say, a cubic centimeter of muscle vs. a 1 cc of fat - the muscle will weigh more.

What this means is really, muscle is more dense than fat. In other words a pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat.

Analogy - a pound of iron would take up much less space than a pound of socks. Of course not the best analogy, but you hopefully see the point.

You could have 2 people, each 150 lbs, but if one has only 15% body fat and the other one more like 50% body fat... clearly the one with more body fat will look heavier or "fatter." They both weigh the same. So how can the slimmer person in this scenario weigh the same as the bigger person - because muscle is more dense, so the weight is more compact.

Muscle weighs the same amount as fat.

There is quite a bit of controversy over whether muscle weighs more than fat. ... Muscle does not weigh more than fat, is just leaner whereas fat is more bulky.

What is heavier a pound of feathers or a pound of lead.

Neither. They both weigh a pound.

Muscle is more dense then fat as fat is 80% water, so muscle ends up being heavier for the same amount.

A pound of anything is still a pound. However, muscle weighs more than fat. So if we are talking about size, say two women who wear dress size six, one woman having little muscle mass and the other very well toned, the well toned woman will weigh more....even though she is in better shape. Just as a 4"x4"x2"sponge will weigh less than a 4"x4"x2" steak.

fat turnes musles

Yes, a pound IS a pound, be it fat or muscle. What the saying refers to is volume. A gallon jug filled with muscle weights substantially more than a gallon jug full of fat. Hence, a heavily muscled man may actually weight more than a fat man who looks much heavier than the guy with muscles.
