Losing weight when you are overweight?!

Question: I am currently 248 pounds and 5'10. My main weight is my belly and legs. It appears that after having my last son in March 07 my belly didnt shrink at all. I got two spare tires and belly button is hidden. Its like an empty shell. Any advice on how to get rid of the excessive fat in my belly area and legs? Or how to just to lose weight overall?

In order to lose the baby fat you will have to work on eating a healthy diet and also adding overall exercise (cardio or weight training) and targeted exercises.

You probably have a combination of excess fat and weakened stomach muscles which normally happen after you give birth.

You'll want to start to cutting out any junk food and limit your calories. However, if you are breast feeding do not cut back, just cut out the junk. By eating healthier foods you will still get the nutrition that your baby needs, while getting full quicker by loading up on fruits, veggies and non-fat dairy products.

Then start exercising slowly. Add walking into your day and as you start to get a bit fitter, add some strength training or resistance band training into your day. If you can purchase a Swiss ball or exercise ball that would be great. Then you could do some ab work on the ball, then as your stomach muscles get stronger you can still use the ball but lean further back on it.

Both of the pages below have videos or ab work that you can watch. Just do a few in the beginning and then build up slowly.
Since your muscles are weakened, it will be hard just to do a few, so don't get frustrated. As you continue they will become easier.

Good luck!

Me too!! Our babies are almost 1 and we are still struggling! Not fair is it?

I just started weight watchers because I can obviously not do this on my own. Hasn't worked yet! And I am going to the gym daily. I have a good 50-60 lbs to loose so I am doing at least 30 minutes of cardio and doing weights. It has to help, right?!?! Good luck!

im the same im over weight and am thinking of stomach stapling i no a girl it worked on she lost 6 stone and her confidence has sored..so if like me u bubbly in the outside but depressd in the inside we have to pull out all the plugs.......

my parents walk around the mall. they have mile markers there. They can do 4 or 5 laps no problem and still share a nonfat yogurt at the end. they share a meal when they dine out. For me, I push the babystroller around the mall, do three or four laps. Take the kids out at lunch and walk around the neighborhood. Don't stay much at home b/c that's when I EAT! Got rid of all the junk food at the house. Won't buy any junk! use a smaller plate (salad plate) when eating. Don't pile it up. If it doesn't fit the plate, I don't eat it. Drink water. No juice or soda (even diet). I bring my lunch to work and a thermos of cold water, always have fruit and I stay away from the staff lounge which if full of junk food and homemade goodies. (i don't do bottled water b/c of the phthalates (?) or is it phenols(?). Park the car far in the parking lot and walk to the store. Have lots of sex with your husband. Don't let him do any of the work. That's a good exercise.

The free E-book on this site might be just what you need to help you lose weight. It's a free download so at least it won't hurt to try it.
