Post workout nutrition question?!


Question: s it good to drink fruit juice immediatly after a work out? I know the importants of protein, but simple carbs? I heard that it was because of the glucose levels needing to be restored. What is an ideal carb to eat after a workout? And what amount?

taking in simple carbs after a workout basically restores glucose and glycogen. What this does is stop your body from being in an catabolic state(breaking down) and puts you back into anabolism(storage/building up). It really depends what you are going for. If you are building muscle, then go anabolic. For fat loss, skip the juice.

If you're going to choose to take a carb post workout, go for a workout recovery drink. They sell 'em...but really anything with a high glycemic index should quickly restore glucose levels. I like Surge! by biotest.

it is a good idea to consume protein as well as some carbs after your workout to restore the glucose leveals back to where they need to be.. i find if i just take protein after i workout i feel a bit flat and not as much energy..

also the glucose helps to allow the amino acids into the cells faster when u combine them with carbs....

its good to have some fruits after you workout, or i find even some sort of fruit juice...
