How long should a typical cardio workout be?!


Question: I workout 3x a week for 45 minutes and i've read somewhere that 15 minutes a day and no more than that is what a person should be doing?

Well, The average work-out time is somewhere between 30-50 Minutes. If you go too long, your muscles will burn out of energy, which will cause you to get tired more easily.It also makes your body and muscles used to the same exercise, so it won't burn as much fat.

What you're doing is the minimum to achieve the benefits. You gotta exercise hard enough and long enough to get your pulse rate up to at least 120, and sweat a little. And hour every other day would be much better.

According to ASCM (American College of Sports Medicine): Do moderately intense cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week OR Do vigorously intense cardio 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week. It really depends on the intensity you are working at to determine how often and at what duration you should be engaged in your cardio exercise.
