Obesity in Adulthood?!

Question: What causes somebody to overeat and become obese as an adult. I know it is part genetic, but i believe unfavorable experiences one had as a child can make one obese. A few weeks ao I read an article on obesity. I found that children raised in Authorian Households have a chance of becoming obese. These type of households have parents that are no different from Totolitarians. They are households where the rules don't benefit children. I think this is one cause of obesity. Does anybody have other reasons why

Being fat isn't genetic. You're not born fat - you get fat by eating too much.

Most people who are fat don't have some super specific disease that makes them fat, they just eat too much.

You get fat slowly and it creeps up on you. Eventually you get on a scale and get a shock, or someone finally says something, or you get winded going up stairs and take a good hard look at yourself.

Some people don't care about being fat. Some people don't know how to lose weight. Some people try different diets and don't stick to them or pick stupid diets. Plenty give up when they haven't lost 50lbs in half a week.

as a symptom of other diseases such as polycystic ovarian disease
