Yogurt question......?!

Question: Does anyone know if the amount of live cultures in yogurt varies according to brand? For example a name brand compared to a store brand. Is one just as good as the other for your health and digestion? Activia advertises this specifically, but don't they all contain the same cultures?

They are not all the same, you need to read the labels. Some do not have active live cultures and they aren't as good for you. Some store brands do have live active cultures. Activia and Dannons new one have extra cultures, it's not just a gimic. What you need to watch for is sugar content. If it has too much sugar you defeat the purpose.,yeast and bad flora thrive on sugar. Hope this helps. Take care!

im not sure but your dog in your icon is cute!

not all yogurt has live cultures because some companies make artificial yogurt, or its chemically processed, or w.e you wanna call it.....others, like Activia, sell real yogurt that have live cultures...im not really sure on how much tho, sry

They are all pretty much the same. Activa is just using creative marketing to sell its product. All yogurt contains acydophyllus which promotes health within your digestive tract. You can also get it in a pill form if you do not like yogurt.
My wife and I use store brand yogurt for smoothies, it's just as good as name brand, the cups are 2 oz. bigger and cost less.

I'm not for sure so don't quote me or anything, but I've noticed that eating any yogurt seems to "make digestion easier" and I believe that Dannon (?) with "activia" is just a way to get your money.

No they don't have the same cultures. The best one is Kirfir at you health food store.

Check your Yogurt for Expiration Date.

Other than that, buy the one in the reasonable price category that you like the most.

I like Dannon with added fruit, such as raspberry.

Paying a lot more is not going to get you much added benefit.

I'm not sure but if you like I'll go to the store and look it up for ya!!! lol
Activia is expensive, and it doesn't really taste the same as any other yogurt I've tasted. I really wasn't that impressed. Prune juice works just fine for me. ; )
