water all the way!

I have about 10 times or should i say 10 days...

You only gain the weight back if you have bad self control!

Yeah, a lot of people have gone on it.
They died of anorexia.

Try the master cleanse, its safer because you get nutrients..

So if you know how much your body needs than you must know, that not eating enough will lower your blood sugar and put your body into shock. Or you probably knew that not eating will eat away your fat deposits first, then eventually your muscles and you will die after that. Water diet sounds pretty reliable.

yeah it works, but doesn't last
you gain it all back

Listen
I am pretty sure anything lower then 1000 calories your body goes into starvation mode.

Meaning you'll loose weight, but after the first couple of kilos which are generally water weight, your body will try to hang on to everything it can.

This is taking the easy way out. Eat small healthy meals throughout the day to boost your motabolism, excercise and you'll get somewhere.

Keep your calories this low you'll stuff your metabolism and your body, be weak and vague, not to mention won't be able to concentrate and suffer bad head aches.

Plenty of my friends have been there and done this.
It never works.

I tell them all the same thing
All this will earn you is your very own coffin 6ft under.

Don't do it!

Yes, I have done it too many times in my life! I am trying to recover from anorexia right now for the millionth time in my life!

It can cause serious medical/health problems.

How long are you talking about doing a water fast? And, how long are you talking about 500 cal's a day?

Sorry, It's just not safe!

I exercised to lose 500 calories and lost weight.. no need to starve.

get a live

I've done a water fast before. It is very hard on your body, and by the 6th or 7th day I felt very dizzy, like I was tripping on some really bad drugs. and hungry as heck. It wasn't fun. Besides water fasts should only be done for cleansing purposes, not to lose weight. If you want to lose weight, be sure to expend more calories than you consume. Most people need 1500 to 2000 calories a day just to stay awake and be able to move around and sit up and walk around during the day. So if you stay around 1500 calories a day (eating healthy food, not fattening processed crap), and you excercise at least 3 x a week, you should lose weight. If you want to excelerate that, try durastically cutting down on your meat consumption. Try getting your protein from beans, seeds, etc. Also CUT DOWN ON DAIRY. cheese, icecream, yogurt, etc.. FATTENING. Don't eat white breads or pastas.. they are so starchy and will bloat you.
Try this: small bowl of oatmeal with rice milk or almond milk for breakfast
a large bowl of salad with oil/vinegar based dressing. creamy dressings are too fattening and high in calories...if you don't do salad, try some veggies and hummus dip or a pita. The key is to eat lightly for lunch, light on the grains, heavy on the fruits and veggies
Snacks: fruits and veggies, whole wheat crackers
Supper: a modest amount of whole grain pasta or rice, with some veggies or salad, and a wee bit of protein.. most people only need 52 grams of protein a day. More than that makes you bulk up.
good luck!
..oh and drink water. whenever ur hungry and you know you shouldn't be.. drink water.

when you reduce your calorie intake your metabolism adjusts itself so your body will only use the amount of calories you intake, you will loose weight but it wont be as fast if you eat properly and exercise.

I went less then the 500 calorie starvation diet.

You wind up feeling airheaded.
Like theres air in your head and you cant concentrate. If you want to call it dizzyness you can but you will experience it if you try it. And I guarentee once you start to feel very very lightheaded you will be running in the kitchen to get some food. I know because I did it plenty of times. I thought I could handle it. And honestly I stopped losing weight after that. It slowed my metabolism WAY down. although I excercised a lot so luckly im still alive today because I decided to start adding more to my diet just after 3 weeks of it. See you only lose 2-3 pounds of weight and this weight is not fat. Its simply the food you put in your body. When your not eating you don't have that weight there. Food weighs pounds to. So if you lose 2-3 pounds from this. You just think your losing fat weight. But really its just because you have no food in your system.

I also was on the water fast thing to.
I still drink days of water. never exclude lots of water from your diet. It flushes out your system to help keep you healthier. Not only that staying hydrated is an important thing since most health problems come from being dehydrated and water helps keep the body full anyway. I think this is why people don't know how to stop eating so much. Because they forget how important water is.

A 500 calorie diet is unhealthy. Those who know say 1200 or 1500 calorie diet, depending on your height, to lose weight. For guys, it's a little higher depending on their height, 1800 t0 2100 calories a day.

The slower your weight-loss, the more likely to keep the weight off.

Hope this helps.

historically, there was no such thing as a starvation diet, just starvation - and that's when your body gets very threatened and starts breaking down - but if you want your body to drop excess fat - healthily and pretty quickly - you may consider doing a fast...

a fast done correctly is actually easier than curtailing your intake, in fact, it can be health for a body without serious health conditions (diabetes, renal failure, liver dysfunction). But it has to be done properly, without denying your body of the ESSENTIALS... water, vitamins (esp calcium, glucosamine - ur joints are very weak during the fast without it, b-vitamins, folate, etc)

here is a good example:
Always precede the fast with a 2-3 day fresh veggie only diet (spinach, broccali, turnips with their greens, carrots, fresh green beans - you get the picture. Eat ur normal quantity of means a day, feel free to snack on the mini carrots the first f2 days - and about a liter of water a day - keep your salt intake down (not zero, but down). Coffee/Tea with sweetener is fine, but processed drinks or juices (no soft drinks, power drinks or red bull - beyond the sugar, they have other ingredients that only cause your body to hold onto the fat).

By the second day you may need to begin taking hoodia (make sure it's authentic south african, doses of >500 units)

The fourth day thru (no longer than) the seventh day will be no food - you won't believe how easy this is - supplement hoodia (no more than 3 days in a row) if needed, continue water intake (very important for 'toxin elimination'), again, coffee/tea can actually be a plus (u don't want ur energy level to drop).

But most importantly, you have to make sure your body continues to function - which means a metamucil type thing 1-2 times a day (sugar free is optimal), you don't want your gi tract to stop completely. Any vitamins/mineral you supplement, take with water and either 4 hours before or after the metamucil thing. You could even take the "super greens" drink - it may provide energy, and in theory, nutrients.

After your last day of the fast, you should re-start eating another 2-3 days of fresh veggies only, slowly - after that when you restart the food, only eat small portions of meats (beginning with chicken and fish is better than beef b/c harder to digest)

women can expect to lose 7-12 lbs of fat (not water). men can expect 10 - 15lbs

you can also expect to be a little fuzzie-headed, slight fatigue and irritable at first during the fast - if you notice more severe symptoms, especially feeling sweaty/dizzy - have a few sips of powerade and stop the fast (u may have an undiagnosed medical problem)

this is not for eveyone - you can cause yourself real problems if you don't have enough water, too much salt or start re-eating doritos the first day off the fast - hoodia actually helps to 're-set' your body's normal weight point, so unless you overindulge after the fast, you can expect it to stay off

was this long enough of an answer for you? good luck if you decide to try it
