What happens to muscles (biceps, triceps, etc.)...????!

Question: when the muscles aren't strength trained or exercised for a while??

Answers: when the muscles aren't strength trained or exercised for a while??

It will atrophy. Muscle CAN NOT turn into fat because they are two separate types of cells.

The beautiful part about having size on your arms before (or any muscle group) you stop training is that it is easier to get the size back due to muscle memory.

Pretty much if you don't use it you loose it. A muscle group that isn't worked out will atrophy as the body starts to break it down.

contrarry to popular belief, muscle cannot turn into fat. your body just dosent work that way. your body will however break down muscle if its not being worked hard for a while and you have a deficit in your calorie intake. i have heard that it takes 6 weeks to make any significant muscle gains and only 3 to loose them (after you stop working out). this may not be true for people with good genetics and a natural build. i would at least do a little work with your arms, it does not take much work to maintain muscle. just lift once a week and you should not loose much.

It is impossible for muscle to turn into fat. Your body needs a certain amount of muscle to function. Anything more than that will be broken down unless it is used. The only way you get fat is if you eat more calories than you burn.

So if you don't use your muscles, but you are not eating more than you burn, then your muscles may shrink a little, but you will not gain fat. Keep in mind though, that the more muscle you lose, the less calories you burn per day.

when you train your body and gain muscle mass then stop maintaining the muscles they lose their tone. unless you do something else to lose the mass you have gained they turn to fat.

It;s called atrophy, the size of it decreases. It happens after you stop training for 1 whole month. After 1 month, if you do not continue to exercise it will began to lose strength. 3 months later, you will feel like you are a beginner.

One thing that I always do to avoid atrophy is something I called constant maintaining. In which I exercise all my major muscle groups once a week when I am busy or tired often.
