Bloating is caused by water retention--it's not made of fat. So calorie restriction won't help.

When it happens to me, it's usually because I ate something extra-salty. Salt makes the body retain water. Bloat's not a matter of "binging" on food, it's about how SALTY what you eat/ate is.

Usually it goes away on its own in a day or two, since the body will expel extra salt on its own (if you don't keep eating the super-salty thing), and once the salt goes back to normal, the bloat self-corrects. You can speed up the effect A BIT by cutting way back on salt for a day, but it really isn't worth the hassle to me. I just go back to eating a normal amount of salt, and the body adjusts.

There are a few other things that can cause water-retention, but they're very rare in industrialized nations. These include starvation, and certain other nutritional deficiencies. But since you've had your period, I really doubt it's that! (Serious starvation also causes amennhorea...lack of menstruation.)

woah, still no answers? i actually wanted to know the answer to this question.. to be honest, i dont know... i mean... maybe its just temporary, just wait another few days and see if you see any changes

good luck (:
