Can eating junk for one day a week help?!


Question: I just read that if you eat 'junk food' one day a week, it can actually help you lose weight. I'm not sure if i should believe this or not, but it says it keeps your metabolism from dropping to a constant slow speed.

Any word on how true this?

If you eat perfectly healthy all week, then you have one 'cheat meal' of anything you want then it keeps your metabolism from going stale.

Like I'm on a diet that I eat healthy all week and then Saturday for one meal I will have maybe three slices of pizza or a hamburger or whatever. These one bad meals a week kind of spark up your metabolism and breaks up the monotony.

So yes it's true if you only eat junk food once a week, But stay away from SODA,. Hope that helped

eating junk food will make you want to crave it more and more,causing you to eat more and more and make you actually gain weight.

i've heard this too, but instead of having a whole day of junk eating (it makes getting healthy again the next day a hell of a lot harder and undoes a lot of the hard work i've done) i have one cheat meal a week.

every friday i'm going to eat either two slices of pizza, a small portion of chinese take out, a small portion of cheesy chips or something else that's super unhealthy. i'll eat what i want but keep the portions limited.

i've only been going a week, but i've lost 3 lbs and that's without excercise.

Hey Joe, have you ever heard the statement you are what you eat? Well depending on what else you eat through my experience if you eat a great deal of junk food like snacks and cupcakes, etc; you may loose weight but your body may become unhealthy, skinny, and sickly in appearance. But also you may gain weight also, but it depends on what you eat, how much you eat, and how your body reacts to the chemicals in those snacks you eat. Snacks are good for you because they provide energy and nutrition in some, but it depends on if you become abusive to consuming them.

When you make a sudden change in your calorie intake like on a diet, your metabolism slows down to keep you from starving (parasympathetic nervous system).
to avoid that, you need to eat smaller meals more often during the day, usually not more than 6 hours apart.
more frequent meals consisting of less calories keeps you from feeling hungry while your body uses up the stored fat on your body for energy.
However I did loose 65lbs in 4 months by eating Wendy's double stack cheese burgers as part of my Atkins diet.
Just leave off everything but the meat, cheese, and lettuce. Discard the bun and use the lettuce to hold the sandwich.
2 carbs and you are getting a double cheeseburger for lunch.
Of course Atkins isn't concerned with calorie count.
