Do you gain weight when you quit smoking?!

Question: Generally people who quit smoking have a tendency to gain a little weight. This is not because they quit smoking but they replace smoking with snacking to relieve stress. If you trade it for walking - you may end up losing weight when you quit smoking.

I have friends that quit - that found a fondness for Granny Smith Apples. When they crave - they grab an apple... still to this day you'll find a handful in their fruit dish....not sure if there is some chemical make-up they share with cigarettes....

Most people do because by not smoking, the taste buds are heightened & food will now taste really good again. Drink plenty of water daily & it will help you to lose weight, feel full, & will flush the impurities out of your body.

Some people gain weight when they quit smoking because they turn to food to fill in where smoking was left off.

My Dad started putting a toothpick in his mouth to replace the cigarrette. It was the habit of the hand to mouth, and the feeling of something in his mouth that he needed. This helped him not gain as much weight. He also started an exercise routine (walking). This helped keep his weight down.

Hope this helps and good luck!!
