So she says I'm fat?!

Question: My mom is starting to get on my nerves...whenever she sees me eating anything I get the comment, "Oh, so you're eating AGAIN?!"

I am 5'7" and I weigh about 130 lbs. I'm very athletic and I have an athletic build....so I guess I'm not as skinny as an anorexic model.

My diet really isn't bad....I eat lots of fruit and health foods (tofu and whole grains) plus I can't have dairy, so many sweets are out of the question.

But really, should I take her seriously? Am I overweight? I am smart enough not to take her insults personally...which would probably drive most people into eating disorders.

Help! What should I do?

You are not overweight and you sound very healthy. People who exercise a lot and are growing also need more calories than most people. Congrats and your smart choices in eating lots of fruit, tofu and whole grains. It can be hard to deal with someone who is acting this way.

Find a chart of average body weight compared to height for women and show her where you fall on the list. Also find an online BMI (body mass index) calculator and show her your result. Measure you hip to waist ratio and find info that relates that to BMI.

It sounds like she is jealous or has some other problems, so none of this information may sway her. In that case, keep this information handy to remind yourself that you are healthy. If it gets too bad, find someone you trust and talk about it.

you are not fat by any means

well you should definately not worry about what she says. shes gonna end up driving you out of the house, i can tell:]
but seriously, its your life. if your happy with how you are, then do whatever. besides, what are you gonna so, STARVE yourself? seriously.

For your height your weight is fine. Honestly I can't see why your mother would even say such a thing to you unless you were like 200lbs. Seriously isn't right of her to do.

Maybe you should get her a biology book. The human stomach empties every 3-4hrs for females. So as a still growing, athletic female you should be eating every 3-4hrs. I would simply ignore her and I'm thinking she probably has a weight issue(either over or extremely controlling of).

she's probably impressed that you can eat a lot and still be skinny (lucky you!) i wouldnt take what she's saying as an insult, im sure she's not trying to be insulting by saying that.

Talk directly and firmly to your mom; tell her that her comments are unwanted and hurtful. 5'7 and 130lbs sounds very healthy.

Research has proven that eating every 2-3 hours is optimal and therefore you are probably better off eating more frequently.

and why do u care what she says?

You are NOT FAT!
Maybe she was just saying that because you eat a lot, I eat a lot, and I have a fast metabolism. maybe you do too.
I would talk with her though, if it makes you uncomfortable you should tell her.
But please don't diet! You're at a wonderful weight!

omg...dont listen to a single word ure mom says!! ure burning off everything u eat anyway!! and i promise that u r sooooo skinny!! really! thats like almost underweight cuz ure really tall so yah! dont worry!

im 5'7 and 130 is my goal weight!!!
