Help With Calories and Fat?!

Question: Hey, i'm 14 years old and I weigh 115 pounds. (I am pretty tall though, around 5'7 I think)

I am trying to keep my slim figure and possibly lose a few pounds...

can anyone help me? I am pretty confused with all the calories and fat and saturated fat...what's the difference?

I am trying to eat healthier, how many calories do you think I should consume a day? And how much fat?

Also, could anyone maybe explain to me about calories and fat and all that other stuff on labels of food and drinks!!? Thank you SO much (: (: (:

Wow 5'7"! That's pretty tall for that age. Calories are what you need to be watching not so much the fat. Of course try to stay away from too much saturated fat. Not all fats are bad though. For example the fatty acids in fish like omega3. Ovocados are really good, but are high in good fats. Your body neds certain fats to survive. Now things like pop tarts and pastries, things like that you might want to cut out of your diet or limit your intake. As for only being 14 that's great that you want to worry about your weight, but if you are staying thin and then I wouldn't worry about it. You see your metabolism is really high right now and you can eat more then lets say your mother may be able to consume. Now if you are worried about it. Eat only calories that your ody should consume in a day and that's it. Take your weight and multiply it by14. This is how many calories you should be consuming in a day. But, if you do sports and you are doing a lot of physcal activity I would just watch the saturated fats. Remember you are young still so try not to worry too much about it. IF you start starving yourself and freaking out about it now your chances of gaining excess weight when your older is a lot more then others. I didn't really start worrying about my weight until I was around eight or nineteen. That is when a woman is pretty much developed and full grown. I suggest just watching you calories intake and the saturated fats. Now a I know that you probably eat whatever your mom cooks for dinner and things. When she goes to the store go with her and try to get healthy items. For example I use this rule of thumb when I'm shopping if I can't read what's in it I don't buy it. Always look at things that say low fat and the regular stuff too because 9 times out of ten the low fat stuff has more calories. When shopping don't worry so much about the fat content but te calories. That is the biggest thing I tell my clients. Go for lean meats like turkey burgers instead of cow meat. You get what I'm saying. These are things you can do to eat healthier. Well, I hope this helped and don't worry about it too much because you are still young and if you say you're thin now then you're fine just exercise and watch the calories that is pretty much it. I will say this much if you get the eating healthy and exercising now you wil carry those habits into adult hood and you can actaully live longer and your chances of heart attacks and strokes are a lot lower then those who do nothing. Good luck!

eat fit yogurt,ur soppose to have 24,000 calories a day 20,000 would be good i learned that in a health magazine.good luck just everytime you have something put the calories on a sheet of paper and at the end of the day count them all up and hopefully you will count less calories some days e-mail me at moonkeygirl63@yahoo.com to ask more,i am watchimg how i eat right now too. its really hard good luck.: )

Don't lose any weight and don't diet yet. You are small for you're height and probably in a size 1 or 0. I weighed 100 at your age at the same height and could not find a size 0 small enough to fit for me or even a 00! I would not worry about it yet. You don't wanna go on a big diet and stunt your metabolism. Enjoy yourself till you get older. I ate like a cow at 14 and still weighed 112 when I was 18. If you wanna eat healthy that's cool. Its good to start early on that stuff and get into a good habit. Go with whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, and fish and chicken over red meat. Also, try to avoid fried foods and stuff with empty calories like mayo and soft drinks. Follow the food guide pyramid for healthy living and you will probably never lose your svelte figure!!! Oh and work out, its good for you even if you are a skinny person..

One thing that will help you lose weight: a colon cleanse. I was one of those who did not believe in them until I tried it. And I tried a few until I found a great one that works (its all natural too! - it's just pills, but you'll detox, lose weight, and fell much, much better). You can go to
http://health-thin.info and order you free trial, also you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!

well what you can do is eat healthy eat carrots or fruits and on the label in the back the one that tells you the calories well look at the servings and see how much you should eat of it.

Whoever said you have to eat 20,000cals is insnae.

You're supposed to have between 1500-2000 a day.
So, for your height and wiehgt I'd say eta around 1300-1500.

You dont' really need to look at the fat grams, as long as you dont eat junk like chocolate, chips, ice cream, etc
And don't drink soda.
