I'm worried about my friend and her eating disorder..?!

Question: I know shes been suffering from bulimia for a while, and I know enough to know that theres nothing I can do or say that will help her unless she wants the help herself. She isnt thin enough for anyone to worry, but its noticeable shes been losing weight. Lately not only has she been throwing up two, three times a day (she tells me this in confidence. I like that she does because if she trusts me, maybe one day she'll come to me about getting help. I wont betray her trust, so please dont ask me.) and not only that, but now shes taking two kinds of diet pills. Shes taking two hydroxycut and one hoodiaphen a day. If this keeps up, is it even more of a possibility her heart will give out? I'm just so worried and stuck. What might happen?

Try to set her up so her parents find out about it. Make it look like she needs help, hint to people like, "did you notice that "Allison" has been losing a lot of weight" but don't say anything else.

Chances are you are not the only person who's noticed. Her parents will find out soon enough and you won't have to betray her trust.

i am really sorry to hear that!! i know how it feels. she is problably sick. her heart will problably give out some day. i am real sorry if i offended you....

Ok, first of all, you have to calm down! I worry about things to but sometimes the best thing to do is calm your self down and think! I know that you don't want to tell on her but if there's no other way to help than I am sorry that it will have to come down to that! Look, you have to talk to her! This pill taking & throwing up could get so bad that she'll lose control, or start taking more that the recommended dose of her pills!!! Talk to her! If you were really a good friend (not saying you aren't) then you would do everything humanly possible to get her help!!! I am truly sorry!

My suggestions are to do fun things with her, try taking some sort of fun excercise program like rock climbing (and she can burn calories a healthier way instead of throwing them up), eat healthy food together, if you see her binging tell her that you notice, compliment her on things other than her weight, encourage but don't force her to get help.

i think you're right about telling her parents. It would just betray her trust in you which sounds like something she needs right now.

its hard to help people who dont want help. i should know: people try and help me and i don't want help.

Good Luck
