When working out your calf muscles?!

It's called lactic acid. Your body releases it to stop the action causing strain to the muscle. You want to push a little past it each time. Eventually it will be harder and harder to get that burn=good thing.
Just make sure that you stretch lightly before exercising and that you're well hydrated. Personally yes, my calf muscles hurt after a while of working them out, that's when i stop and stretch them out again.
If you work heavy enough there shouldn't be too much lactic acid buildup.
Do you squat?
