Jump roping..?!

Question: ok, so i've been wanting to get in shape forever (i'm not overweight or anything, but i just don't really feel like i'm in shape). some of my family and friends make fun of me for thinking i am out of shape bc they say im not and that i dont need to worry about this yet. but i want to start feeling healty..bc i just srsly dont feel good about myself if i dont exercise. and i have felt that way all winter.eh

So i am going to start jump roping for some time out of my day..but i just don't know how much and what is a good goal to set. i jump roped a lot in the summer, but i havent in winter at all. i can probably do 210 in about 7 minutes, but i get REALLY tired, so idk what is a good goal for myself and how much time to meet it. could someone please help me figure this out? Thanks a lot.

Also, i was wondering which parts of your body jump roping helps/works on? like i know calves but anything else? is is a good exercise to choose?

its good to do some excercises.. don't go over the top though.

make sure you eat healthily and ENOUGH.. this will affect your fitness. if you don;'t eat enough you can't build muscle.

with regard to your question, don't count them, just take at a fairly good pace (not sprinting, but not slowly) and do it for 5 minutes.

do this everyday for a week.

up it to 6 minutes next week.

add a minute each week.

This may not seem like much, but in 5 months you will be able to do 25 minutes solidly, easily.

If you find the increase is too small, push it up by a minute every 3 days or so. dont do any massive jumps..

hope this helps! :)

it is a good exercise to choose for 14 years old. and you should ignore someone who make fun of you. they don't know what you are going through anyway,

the point is that you have to sweat by doing something.
jump rope is the hardest exercise for some individuals.

if you sweat that is a good sign. so do it until you feel good sweat.

calves that is true and mostly cardiovascular which is lungs and heart and a little for your legs specially quads (front upper knees)
and balanced exercise and agility too.

Jump roping is really good for you! I'm 13 and I jump rope a lot to stay in shape and get exercise. You'll eventually work up to doing more, and now since I keep doing it, I can do 1,000 jump ropes(i do take little breaks though) It's great cardio and it works your legs and burns fat. Good luck and don't listen to those who make fun of you! :)
