Two meals a day: bad for you?!

Question: Ever since I started living in the dorms, I got into the habit of eating two (larger) meals a day, just because it's more convenient that way. I have a breakfast bar now and then, but I generally only eat twice a day. I've heard that it becomes easier to put on pounds when eating fewer meals a day, even if you eat the same amount. Why is this?

something to do with the metaboic rate. however you can keep soya nuts with you, and pop a tablespoon in every noon. that is enough sustinence. and of course the breakfast bar.

It's not good for you. Eating large portions less frequently is called "binging". It causes your metabolism to slow down and then you gain weight more easily.

Eating fewer large meals causes your metabolism to slow down, which in turn reduces the amount of calories you burn.

Buy protein bars and keep them you...that way you can have something small, but healthy, every few hours between meals.

No, eating only two meals causes your metabolism to slow down so then your body will store extra fat since youre not eating regularly.
Start eating five small meals a day to regulate your body's digestive system again.

The body sees the length of time in between meals as starvation and slows down the metabolism to conserve energy. It also starts storing food as fat and water as fluid until it feels the starvation period is over, or until you start feeding it more frequently. It is an inbuilt mechanism of the body that we have no control over.
