How do you control your binge eating? (if you do binge, that is)?!

Question: I have struggled with this for as long as I can remember...even when I was little. Eating a ton and then exercising for long periods of time or just sitting around and feeling guilty is like a second nature to me. How do you deal with it and control your cravings?

DON'T bother saying you drink water or chew gum...tried that

Hi, there!

I am so sorry to learn that you are having a hard time.

I hope that many people will respond to your question and provide some good suggestions. You have already received some.

Here are a few ideas from me:

I strongly suggest that you eliminate all processed (refined) carbohydrates from your diet.

Refined carbohydrate (this includes sugar) can (among other things) trigger mood swings and food cravings. This can trap you in a cycle of dieting and binging.

I also suggest eating five or six smaller meals per day, which should contain at least 15 grams of protein in each meal.

Five or six smaller meals per day that include quality protein will help to boost your metabolism and CURB CRAVINGS.

I hope this helps you.

All my best wishes to you.

Counselor sessions

binge eating is an eating disorder you need to talk to someone, i used to have the same problem

I have the same problem. I think that I am going to try taking a pic of myself and looking at it when I start to.

Hope this works for both of us...

i know how you feel

i try to distract myself
or wait 10 minutes before i eat anything and make sure i really want it

Talking to your parents and not allowing yourself to buy the food. Give all your money to a person you trust.

Eat lots and lots of protein. Protein helps with your hunger!

Don't do what you think you shouldn't be doing.
It should be easier not to do it than doing it.
The truth behind all that is that you do what you want and expect a magic solution to the consequences.
There isn't.
Stop doing it, that's the solution.

do something to take your mind off of it...i also had anorexia but when i bounced back, i started binge eating because i was scared of how hungry i was all the time when i was anorexic. walk around a little bit, read a book, put a rubber band on your wrist and snap it when you get a craving, lol. works for me. :D
