There really isn't a fast and HEALTHY way to lose weight. It takes time and effort. Besides, when you lose weight gradually over time, you are more likely to keep the weight off. Changing your diet is necessary for seeing any results. Spend a week keeping a journal of what you eat. This lets you see when you tend to eat the most, what you eat too much of, and where you can make changes. Moderation is key. It's not necessary to cut out all carbs, sugars, or fats. The idea is eat everything in moderation so you can maintain healthy eating habits. If you cut a type of food out entirely, you will feel deprived and may over-eat later. Read nutrition charts on the food you buy and pay attention to the serving size. Substitute healthy items in your diet. Start buying healthier snack options. Cut down on your portion size. Also, drink a lot of water. Many times, when you feel hungry, you are really just dehydrated.

As for exercise, stretch and warm-up before any activity. Pick something you'll enjoy, like a sport or running. Doing something you enjoy, as opposed to just exercising for weight loss, makes it more likely you'll stick with it and see results. Try to do some sort of activity every day, even if you only have ten minutes to spare. Also, try to mix-up your workout routine. This keeps you from getting bored and keeps your body from getting used to a particular type of exercise. Incorporate weights into your routine as well. Just don't overdo it or you could end up with an injury, and wouldn't be ale to exercise for a few weeks. Try lifting a smaller amount with a larger number of repetitions or a larger amount of weight with a smaller number of repetitions.

The idea is develop healthier habits so staying healthy becomes a part of your life, as opposed to trying to lose weight in a short amount of time. This way, the weight loss actually sticks. Your reasons for wanting to be healthy are great. Good luck!

Drink lots of water, eliminate all sugar, cut down on carbs, exercise, and cut down on your portions. 1 to 2 pounds a week is healthy, anymore than that is too much too fast and you WILL put it back on plus. Been there. Good luck to you.
