How do i keep my motivation up?!

Question: I really really need to lose weight. I am 14 years old and am way over weight. I am 5"7 and weight 230 lbs... i know its big.. but i am trying hard to lose it.

I sit in bed at night and get this motivation to lose this weight. Then i do great for one day. I eat right, excercise.. the whole deal. But then the next day i dont have as much motivation any more. I will pig out on chips or cookies.. and i ruined what i had done the day before.

I was using this picture of me from 4th grade. I have not always been fat and i am really really skinny in this pic. So since it was only 5 years ago, it shows almost what i would look like if i was skinny now. So i look at it and that helped for one day. And i really thought that i found the trick that time.. but today i gave in again.

What are some good ways to keep my motivations and will power up. I really really really want to lose weight and keep it off.

You have a great attitude towards it, it really helps that you actually want to lose the weight by working hard. Tape your 4th grade picture to your mirror so you see it everyday. Tell all your friends you want to lose weight, and have them watch what you eat. If you eat any junk, tell them to slap you or take it away every time so you remember not to eat it and stay on task. Also, it helps if you right down your goal, that way you remember and see it everyday as well. Make a calendar and plan out your workout schedule (at least 1 hour everyday!). If you use a calendar throughout the day, you can't forget your workouts! Sometimes the problem is the food your own family buys that is sitting in the fridge. Have them make a change in what they buy. Get fruits, veggies, meat with not fat, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat pancake mix, whole wheat everything! It may taste bad at first, but you;ll thank me for telling u this in the future!
Oh yeah, and play loud upbeat music while you workout, it will help you stay focused, work harder, and have more fun (your fav. music). And while you eat healthy and exercise hard, remember all the good things you are doing for your body that will improve your life!

Accountability

Having a workout partner(s) is a great motivator. Share your goals, make a plan, and help each other stick to the plan.

How about your parents? Would they be on board with getting rid of the junk food in the house? If it's not in the house, you are not as likely to eat it.

Regardless of age, exercise and proper nutrition are key to a healthy life.

first off
if you fall off the wagon
dont kick yourself and say ive failed
ive eaten a chocolate bar, ive failed and ruined everything
so i may as well eat a bag of chips and a bucket of ice cream

no. you say i ate the chocolate. that was not smart and i will not do it again. i am proud of myself for being this good and understanding what is good and what is bad for my body.
each day you need to tell yourself how well you are doing.
what do you really want more - to be skinny, or to eat everything in the fridge?
you need to find someone to talk to - a friend, a family member, even someone you dont know, that can motivate you.
do any celebs body intrest you?
i keep photos of keira knightley near by me to motivate me.

only you can truly motivate yourself, by telling yourself that you are worth it, and this is what you want
not that silly chocolate bar.

i used to be the same way, i would get into working out and eating right for like a week, and then give up after not seeing results. And then finally i looked at myself in the mirror and i realized i was really unhappy with my body, and i realized i had felt this way for years. And at that point in time i realized i was the only one who could do anything about it. So from that day i on i decided that everyday i would go to do something or was going to eat something i remember what i wish i was, and knowing that i can reach it, you just have to realize that the only way to look how you want to look is making the decision to stick with it

NEVER EVER EVER restrain from eating junk food. eat one junk food each day, and exercise to burn the calories off.
also, don't eat anything after 8pm. that's when all the fat is stored into your body.

looking at a picture will only get you more depressed and desperate, therefore making you pig out even more after the first day.
also, how about trying to save up the money that you would normally spend on food? i did that once in grade 10. i would get $3 each day for lunch from my mom, whick i would put in my piggy bank. by the end of the month i had enough money to buy a cute sweater that my mom wouldn't buy for me. (obviously don't tell your parents about the whole thing)

best advice i can give you is this: take it one day at a time, don't think about tomorrow, but think about today.

hope this helps!! stay strong =)?

Motivation is always the hardest thing. I know when I chose to change my lifestyle and be in shape I made a shopping list of all of the healthy foods I could think of and bought it, sticking it in a cabinet in the kitchen that was just mine. Also, if you pay for a gym membership it will probably motivate you to work out there because you know you have put your money into something and don't want it to go to waste. When I go to the gym with my ipod I forget i'm even running.

If your not the only person in your family insecure about your weight then encourgae them to exercise with you. Throw out the bag of chips and even fill your whole kitchen with fruits and vegetables. If you buy a cute shirt or pair of jeans one size smaller than your normal fitting then that also may motivate you to work harder.

If your have sources like the gym membership and healthy food than you will use it. Even trying new healthy food recipes makes it fun. Also, I know that if i'm home all day with nothing to do I'll start eating something I know I shouldn't be. Try and keep yourself busy and doing things, rather than staying in your pajamas all day. Half the things I have mentioned aren't even easy for me to do, but if your just think of the outcome and know that you can look like that girl in the picture again I know you can do it. Nobody can hold you back from feeling good about yourself. And just think of what a role model you would be if you lost all of that unwanted weight. Good luck!
