You can't spot reduce fat. You have to reduce overall body fat and often the fat around the middle is the last to release.

I also tell my clients to eat smaller meals more times (5-6) per day. When a body is starved it will store fat. When it believes that times are good (when it's being feed good nutrition often) it will release fat.

I have written a page focusing on a 3 pronged approach dealing with Detoxing, Nutrition and Exercise (especially body weight exercises, which you can do in your home).

Good luck!

tummy tuck,

start swimming

water walking

ab execises

I'm 46 and I have the same prob. Ab exercises are supposed to be good but you'll probably have to do 1,000 of them to start seeing results. I get frustrated too. One thing though watch the diet. Get rid of all fatty foods. Here's an answer I saw on a similar question:

Situps are the main key but if you don't drink enough water and keep eating sweets or too many carbs then you're just fighting it. Keep running and as of sit-ups, do reps/sets instead of maxing just 60...so for instance, do 3 sets of 30's. That'll get you ripped quicker depending on your weight.

cardio , cut out white sugar and carbs and see what happens. drink lots of water .
the first 2 weeks will be very difficult ! it was for me but I am down to 125lbs and I am 46 years old !

Eat lots of fiber, veggies, and protein. Watch your sugar intake and make sure you don't exceed 1500-2000 calories a day. Stay away from processed foods that are nothing more than empty calories.
It's all about burning more calories than you intake on a daily basis so getting exercise is equally important to eating the right foods.

Good luck!!!

The ONLY thing that will help is at least 30 minutes a day of intense cardio a day, 5-6 days a week. Stair stepper, elliptical, running, walk at 4mph or faster. This is a scientific fact. You can do all the core exercises you want. You will get a really strong core (very important for women of our age) but the belly fat will still be covering that 6 pack.

Spot reducing is a myth and you just will not be able to do reduce the belly fat without general toning and proper diet. I do not mean to sound like a smart &%($$&@. I wish spot reducing helped but it does not.

I would suggest a combination of cardio and weight/resistance training to help you tone up and perhaps lose some weight. I am 52 and I would suggest that you find a DVD/tape or a local class to get started. I like Joyce Vedral but she is in my age catagory.

Starving is not the answer. It sends your body into starvation syndrome which means that your body clings to every atom of food you give it and turns it into fat for later use. Same way with water. Do you have problems with bloat. The best diuretic in the world is water.

Good luck and know that you do have the support from me.
