How many calories is a 45 yr old male to eat aday trying to drop weight??!

I am 6', 170 lbs and 52 years old. My basal metabolic rate is about 1700 calories burned per day. To that number I can add whatever calories I burn during the day due to activity and exercise. That will tell me approximately how many total calories I will burn up in a day.

Once you know this number you can eat however many calories you choose in order to lose, gain or maintain your weight.

It depends how tall you are..........I'm 5'10 and skinny but eat enough for a classroom full of shorter girls per day.......

Just make sure you are takeing in less then your putting out meaning cardio is best and the easest way to lose weight just eat smaller protions when you eat, like cut every thing that you eat in half, instead of eating two spoons of spagtii eat one

Your BMI must be less than 25. Get your self on a hospital administered weight loss program. I lost 40 pounds in ten weeks, ate so little that I thought that I was going to die, saw the doctor once a month, had to attend lectures on keeping the weight off once a week.
I was 6'8" and weighed 270. For 10 weeks I was on a diet of 1200 calories a day but could eat all the raw fruits and veggies I wanted. I also had to exercise 30 minutes a day.

Don't worry so much about calories. I don't feel like getting into the details, but if you get on a slow-carb diet, you will lose weight much faster, keep it off longer, and actually eat less calories at the same time. Just eat egg whites, beans, lentils, broccoli, spinach, etc., and you will start dropping weight very quickly. The more you exercise, the faster you will drop it.

If active 1500-1800 if non active 1200-1500, suggest to exercise even if walking, and drink water that is what I was told from doctor and Im 41

Well depending on how active he is, I would say if he is not active then stick to 2200 calories and if he is very active then 2800 is okay. Just watch out for your conversion though, thats very important.
