My sisters calorie intake is only 700cal /day?!


Question: She does an hour of stepper a day and burns 496 cal.
45min of exercise with dumbells..
She wants to loose weight as asap. How can I convince her that it is unhealthy.

Tell her that the body doesn't know that she wants to lose weight, and instead it thinks that she is starving to death. so the body shuts down (so to speak) and will burn very few calories. in the beginning she will drop a lot of weight... then her body will try to hold on to all the fat she has and she won't lose an ounce! then, when she eats like a normal person again, she will gain fat like there's no tomorrow.

a low caloric intake like that will cause a lot of:
thyroid problems
blood sugar problems
vitamin and mineral difficiencies
cholesterol problems
psychological problems (due to brain chemistry)
and the list goes on...

no one should ever go below 10 cals/lb of body weight

well if you mean 700/ cals a day before the exercice then i wouldnt worry about ti she will fall seriously ill soon and will be put into hospital where they will fatten her back up just tell her that.........she will be 10 pounds heavier when she leaves the hospital.

thats fine; i take in less than 500 cal a day tho i don't exercise at all. my diet consists of veggies, fruits and brown rice as well as whole wheat bread. I eat tofu, fish and chicken. I only use extra virgin olive oil, not veg. oil. and i don't eat things that contain sugar. I luv green tea! Basically, no snacks and processed foods. Also, no going out to restaurants. Its a lifestyle change to say the least but i lost tons of weight and feel healthier and better bout myself coz the foods actually healthy. I mean as long as ur eating healthy foods, its better than eating tons of junk food to make ur cal intake 2000 or whatever.

explain to her that this way she will ruin her metabolism and then she will get really fat, she won't be able to eat anything without getting weight.

You could try telling her that she'll damage her bone strength and her fertility for when she's older but you know your sister, you know how determined she is and some people, no matter how hard you try to help will simply dig their heels in and refuse to listen. She may even accuse you of trying to sabbotage her plans.

In time she'll realise that she cannot maintain her energy levels on her calorie intake and will eat more / work out less. At the moment she's in that 'buzz' zone of losing weight and looking good.

People don't understand that taking in too little calories can prevent you from losing weight. When the body takes in too little calories, it automatically goes into starvation mode and will hold on to the calories and instead of burning them. She can do all the exercise in the world but if she doesn't up her calories to at least 1400 or so per day, she is basically wasting her time and energy. She also must be miserable too because what can u actually eat all day long that only adds up to 700 calories and be satisfied?
