Eh, we all do that. I eat perfectly until the cookies roll into town. It's because we only get them for a limited amount of time.
Don't fret. Don't binge, don't purge, just continue on with your life with your normal eating habits and the weight will pass without even showing on your waist.
Like I said - been there, done that. my family works in the health field, all of them, so I know what your body does. You'll be fine. Some extra exercise won't hurt, but don't hurt yourself doing it.
EDIT: yes, the brain likes sweet food. When we were ancient primates sweets = rare fruits with sugar, which we needed. With our lifestyle and foods today, that desire for sweets that once kept us alive can cause more damage than anything. but not if you do it occasionally.

Well, my daughter is a Girl Scout and I joke that they have crack in them. Subscribing to that theory, it means you are addicted and you just can't help the addiction.
However, I did read somewhere, it was months ago so I couldn't tell you where, that when it is around, we can't help but eat junk food. Something in our brains that we just can't resist it. Don't feel bad. I have eaten an entire package of fruit roll-ups since Sunday. We all have our hang-ups, mine happens to be fruity flavored candy.

Well, if they're peanut butter I'll usually eat an entire box (or 2! : )over a day, it's nothing strange, they're just really good!
