Are protein and energy bars bad for you?!

Question: I eat an energy bar for lunch each day; should I eat a salad instead? Whenever I eat a lunch with a salad, baby carrots, and an apple, I feel very bloated and fat but when I eat just an energy bar I feel full and better about myself.

What should I eat?

Energy bars have lots of protein. Proteins tend to make you more feel more full than carbohydrates. Are you eating your salad with dressing? That could contribute to the bloating. Vegetables do make some methane gas at a slow rate.

Eating energy bars isn't bad - in large doses. Because energy bars (most of them) have iron content in them, consuming lots of them can make you extremely tired/weak and sometimes even fatal. Overdosing in nutrients can harm your system rather than helping you.

The best way is to eat a well-balanced diet. A hearty breakfast to start off the day, a not-too-filling lunch, and a healthy dinner. Look at the food pyramid and see how much of each food group you need. Carbs are the most needed in your body, because it provides most of the calories. Vegetables and fruits provide valuable nutrients to keep you healthy. Proteins from dairy products and meats keep you strong.
