How dangerous is eating too much sugar?!

Question: I know that eating too much sugar is tied to obesity and diabetes.

I am a 30 years old, 6'1", 225lbs. and I eat some kind of candy everyday. I am an addict.

So I was wondering if I am going to have problems down the road OTHER THAN obesity related diseases. Does sugar ruin my brain or liver?

Valid Research gets the points.

Sugar does NOT cause diabetes!!

Too much of any good thing is not good for anyone. But a piece or 2 of candy is not bad. even for diabetics!!

Obesity is caused by couchpotatoism! Couchpotatos sit and eat and do not do any movements that they can help other than bending their elbows and maybe wiggling their fingers on a keyboard.

Sugar will not in and of itself do much harm to most healthy active individuals. No matter if they eat a pound of it every day, it still won't do much more than rot their teeth.

Diabetes type 2 is more genetically induced than is type 1. Type 1 is generally thought to be caused by disease that kills the Langerhans (sp?) islets in the pancreas which necessitates taking insulin injections to live.

Lead an active lifestyle and watch the food intake and you should be fine!!

oops the answerer got confused I know she meant to say type 1 diabetes is the genetic one, type 2 genetics+ induced by obesityAnything that keeps away obesity keeps diabetes risk down If sugar causes it for some, then sugar is the cause for them Report It
