How healthy is it to......?!

Question: Is it alright to eat a mild to moderate amount of left over cookie dough from making cookies(and cooking them)?

I've also seen someone unwrap cookie dough that was fridgerated and he bit off a big chunk of it and ate it.

Is that ok to do? Or will it make you sick and die or something?

There is a slight risk that the egg will make you sick (being raw and everything) but I've been eating cookie dough all my life and I'm 22 and still alive. It tastes good! Just don't eat too much or you might feel sick (too much sugar).

It will make you fat.

It won't kill you, but it will make you VERY sick. Cookie dough has raw egg in it, which you should not eat.

Mmmmmm.....cookies.... I think I'll go bake some right now.

It depends on what the cookie dough is made of and how it's been handled. If it uses raw eggs and has gone unrefrigerated, you could have a chance of getting food poisoning. But if the dough has stayed in the refrigerator, it is probably ok.

Yum! Some people worry about getting salmonella from the raw eggs. I guess it could happen. But I've never gotten sick from licking the bowl after making brownies. That's my favorite part about baking.

The only real danger is inthe fact that there are usually eggs in cookie dough, and an uncooked egg can harbor salmonella bacteria, and make a person very sick.
Otherwise, nothing wrong with it at all.

you'll be perfectly fine. the reason they say its unhealthy to eat cookie dough is because of the raw eggs inside but they use to make children eat raw eggs all the time because its actually good for you. just dont eat the whole entire bowl of cookie dough. even if u do, the worst thing that will happen is u might feel sick but that's because of the sugar and what not. you feel sick if u eat an entire tray of COOKED cookies as well.

cookie dough wont hurt if you eat every once in a while but if you start eating it every day or many days you could get sick or get really bad stomach aches. so be very careful of how much you eat.

People have been eating raw cookie dough for years. If it has eggs it can make you sick but chances of that happening are slim. Try it you will like it.

Always a risk to eat stuff with raw eggs, in case it's contaminated with Salmonella, which causes diarrhea in most healthy people. But a risk I, for one, am willing to take in order to eat raw cookie dough. I do it every time!

lol the raw egg might make u feel sick or be sick but who hasnt licked the spoon when making fairy cakes???? eating a large amount of it though will make you sick and a slight chance of food poisening. i wouldnt advise eating lots of it as its not healthy and cn mke u ill.

its ok

i do that all of the time.
it tastes soo good.
i think it's only unhealthy if it has eggs in it because they can give you salmonella.
i do it anyway, though.

It is okay to do in moderation. The concern in raw cookie dough is the eggs that are used in it. There is a possible chance that you could get salmonella from eating raw cookie dough. A little bit won't hurt you, however don't plan to eat the whole stick!

The main problem with eating cookie dough is if you're making your own and you use an egg or two in the mix, which it always calls for, you do stand a chance of salmonella poisoning because the eggs are not pasteurized. Of course baking the cookies is done with enough heat to destroy anything in the mix. But, then eating to remainder of the bowl that hasn't been cooked is the problem...the eggs particles remain and you could get sick from that..One of the problems with that type of sickness is that it doesn't happen right away. It may be a week later when it appears and you'll just never make the connection back to the cookie dough..We've all done it, but to be completely safe I'd advise against it..
If its prepared dough I'd check the package to see if the eggs used were pasteurized, if not the same condition may exist.
