Should I increase my workout routine?!

Question: I've been working out now for about 3 weeks now and I've seen some results, but I am debating if I should increase the exercising. I do 30 minutes of cardio, an 8 minute ab workout, and about 50 push ups everyday.

I was 180 lbs and now I am 170 lbs and I've lost 1.5 inches from my waist. Congrats to me, BUT will I continue to lose weight with the routine I've been accustomed to right now? Or should I change it?

The reason why I ask is because I've heard that it is hard to maintain or to continue to lose weight without changing someone's routine.

Thanks for any help.

The workout should be pushing you out of your comfort zone - probably 7-8 out of 10 effort. If it isn't doing this then definitely change it. You want to stick to a program for 4-6 weeks.

The workout I found gave the quickest and best results were circuit routines which were based on supersets (great for quick weight loss and toning). If however you want to build muscle you need to change the exercises to cover different muscles. Also, you shouldn't be working out the same muscle group every day as rest is almost as important as the workout.

You will find if you do a split over two days and train 4-6 days a week you will get a lot more results a lot faster. The secret is to continually push yourself.

The benefit of changing every 4-6 weeks is that it shocks your body and helps with development. If you don't change it is likely that you will only maintain and probably tone. Also change keeps you motivated and interested. And really there is nothing more exciting than looking in the mirror and loving what you see - one of the pay offs for hard work.

You should change it. When you body gets used to something it doesn't have to work as hard to do it, therefore you won't get the same results. You'll hit what is called a plateau.

Do something different for cardio, ride a bike instead of running or something like that. Also maybe try interval training (run a search on it).

If i were you i would stick to the same routine if you saw results.if you increase your cardio and push ups then you would get tired faster and not do it as much and by doing that you would vary your results.

This is proven that keeping the same routine will do you no effect, as said before its a plateau. If i was you i would try different types of excercises that your body isn't familiar with such as do some chin ups instead of push ups, and so on.

Im only 16 y/o's and my max push up is about 80, ive been doing push ups for about 1 and a half years, now i do chin ups and its improving on my muscles.

If your trying to lose weight, you should sign up at a gym and get a personal trainer which isnt that expensive, i would say about 60-70 a month in Australia.

i dont know why im doing exercise when im skinny, maybe cause i like doing them, it motivates me in life and can in the social and mental.

Congrats on losing some weight, and Good Luck in the future mate.
