Firstly don't drink anything except water and eat lots of fruit and vegies. Count your calories and see how much you are REALLY eating - if it's more than say 1500 you can safely cut back to 1500 or 1200. Do some cardio exercise every day to get your heart rate up. Go walking, or alternate a few minutes of walking with a few minutes of jogging if you can. Jogging or running will really tone up your legs fast and burns off the fat. You can also swim or cycle or just dance around at home to your ipod. 30 minutes would be good, but anything is better than nothing. Try to exercise to music, pick songs with a fast beat and you'll find you can go further and faster.

What made the biggest difference for me was doing some toning exercises. I mainly do crunches and push ups. I was doing lunges and squats but I found I didn't really need to with the jogging. Push ups will tone your arms, also do some tricep dips etc. This is a fantastic page with lots of exercises - click on the links to see animations. You can try all sorts of fads but seriously the basic maths is that you have to burn more calories than you eat. So you can eat less, eat the same but better food choices, exercise more or speed up your metabolism. Slow weight loss stays off and you're not at risk of getting a lot of excess skin.

The biggest thing though is that you have to be committed to it. You have see it as a change in lifestyle, not a temporary fix and you have to work at it EVERY day. You can have treats here and there but if your heart isn't in it you won't stick to it. I finally got motivated after 3 years of being fat. I feel fantastic now. After about 3 or 4 weeks it became a habit and not a chore anymore. I feel horrible if I miss exercising on one day instead of having to force myself to do it. You won't look back!
